Cellar Door

"A famous linguist once said that of all the phrases in the English language, of all the endless combinations of words in all of history, that cellar door is the most beautiful."
--Drew Barrymore as Karen Pomeroy in Donnie Darko

"Most English-speaking people ... will admit that cellar door is 'beautiful,' especially if dissociated from its sense (and from its spelling). More beautiful that, say, sky, and far more beautiful than beautiful...
Well then, in Welsh, for me cellar doors are extraordinarily frequent, and moving to the higher dimension, the words in which there is pleasure in the contemplation of the association of form and sense are abundant."
-- J.R.R. Tolkien

dude,

just call her.
it would take you five seconds
to put an end to hours of worry.

just act like you care...

Jan three zero rainbow rally

taken from justout.com blog

What's Up With The Oregonian?
The issue that I read of today's The Oregonian didn't carry a single word of coverage about last night's Rally to Defend Equality.

Last night the paper's Web site posted a link to Gay Right Watch, and their blog post about the event, but that only stayed up briefly.

1500+ people coming out and standing in the rain and cold to demonstrate their commitment to a cause isn't news?

disgusting, don’t you think?

but i smile all the same.
upon exiting the library steps behind my girlfriend late this afternoon,
i spied a man with a sticker from yesterday's rally on his jacket.
i stepped back in the doorway.
"thank you for supporting equal rights," i said softly.
he smiled, meeting my eyes.
"no problem."

Street Fee Opposition

“The city has mispent millions of tax dollars on the tram, street cars, light rails and other expensive non-car projects and have neglected roads all these years. Taxpayers are now being punished for the city’s problems.”
--Don McIntire, President Taxpayer Association of Oregon

"non-car projects"?
...right...

i could rant all afternoon.
for a real scoop
read this
and follow links to gather information & form an opinion.
if your bike is as loved as mine, you have a decent pair of street shoes, or you have actually used the PT system in this town, i am sure you are with me on this one.

deep fried candy bars?

gross.
yet, i don't know, if offered, i would really refuse the opportunity to have an informed opinion
even if it were the same as my uninformed opinion…
gross.

i really should blog at random.
i've thought about it before...
just being a girl who posts things at random
doesn't expose her identity
perhaps talks about naughty things
raw or edgy
boring or bland
irrelevant and poignant
raises an eyebrow or two
that could be fun..
i really should blog at random.
